5.30 Newcastle – Course-specialist Jkr Cobbler chases hat-trick
The Ian Jardine-trained Jkr Cobbler had dropped below his last winning mark and has pounced twice since, winning both times at his beloved Newcastle. He returns there in a hunt for the hat-trick but has been nudged up 3lb for his victory last time. Warren Fentiman takes off a valuable 7lbs and that will see him go close.
Rebecca’s Girl has been consistent in her last two starts when winning and finishing second in the other. The Gary Rutherford-trained filly has Jason Hart on board once again and he gets on well with her. Pallas Lord showed shades of a revival last time out over course and distance and is on his last winning mark. Archie Young takes 5lb off his back and is interesting for this BetMGM: It’s Showtime Handicap.
6.00 Newcastle – Mondammej and The Riddler lock horns
Mondammej has always been somewhat of an enigma for Anthony Brittain and after a break and wind surgery he has shown some of his old form after dropping to his lowest winning mark. He needs to be ridden cold, and Cam Hardie gets on well with him.
Royal Ascot winner The Riddler lines up and showed signs of his old self last time out under Oisin McSweeney who gets aboard again for this Extra Winnings With BetUK Acca Club Handicap. His highlight was winning the Norfolk Stakes and if reproducing that winning performance, he would be dangerous. Paddy’s Day is a consistent type and will be in the reckoning as his form figures reflect.
7.00 Newcastle – Consistent King’s School looks to shed his maiden tag
Middleham Park have been the victims of several near-misses with King’s School as he has been so unlucky in his last four runs. Beaten just under a length in all four starts, he has been mightily unlucky and lines up under Kaiya Fraser again in a bid to break the maiden tag.
Beautiful Kopella has dropped to an interesting mark and is now 5lb below his rating when winning over five furlongs at Beverley. Faye McManoman rides and could be one at a bigger price to go well.
Captain Vallo’s connections are looking to strike while the iron is hot given the six-year-old has been out of form until his last four starts. Having run just a couple of days ago he arrives in good form.
