The Boston Celtics are for sale; could Red Sox’ John Henry be interested?

The Boston Celtics finally won Banner 18 after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in five games in the 2024 NBA Finals. They followed that up by locking up all of their core players with new deals or contract extensions, save for backup forward Sam Hauser. And then they decided to sell the team?

Boston Celtics said in a statement that the owners will sell a “majority interest” in 2024 and 2025, finalizing the sale in 2028. Wyc Grousbeck is expected to remain Governor until 2028.
