ROKEBY, Neb. (KOLN) – The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday that a tornado touched down in southwest Lancaster County overnight.
The EF-1 tornado carved out a path of destruction 2.28 miles long with max wind speeds of 107 mph.
According to NWS, the tornado touched down along Southwest 27th Street just south of West Rokeby Road and damaged homes, barns and knocked down trees in its path.
Photos of the area showed some homes with damaged siding, broken windows and parts of their roofs torn off.
In addition, a horse boarding facility sustained significant damage, with six small stable barns totaled and half an outbuilding destroyed, according to NWS. A photo of the damage in the area also shows a large damaged silo.
The tornado snapped several large tree trunks in its path before lifting near South 1st Street, according to NWS.
